ADVANCED SKIN AND MOHS SURGERY CENTER was founded in 2000 by Dr. Clarence William Brown, Jr., MD, JD with the goal of providing Chicago with the highest quality of care in diagnosing and treating skin cancer. In August 2001, Dr. Brown accepted the position as Director of Mohs Micrographic Surgery at RUSH University Medical Center where he worked jointly with ADVANCED SKIN AND MOHS SURGERY CENTER, to create a Midwest center for excellence in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer.
In 2009, Dr. Brown opened a new ADVANCED SKIN AND MOHS SURGERY CENTER office in St. Joseph, Michigan, bringing the same high quality of care in detecting and treating skin cancer to the communities of Southwest Michigan. Presently, ADVANCED SKIN AND MOHS SURGERY CENTER has grown to three locations in the Midwest and includes three Board Certified Dermatologists and three Certified Physicians Assistants highly skilled in providing comprehensive care for diseases of the skin, hair, and nails. ADVANCED SKIN AND MOHS SURGERY CENTER is committed to fulfilling its mission to provide the highest quality of care in diagnosing and treating skin cancer and remains actively engaged in broadening its footprint and expanding in number its treatment facilities.
Currently Dr. Clarence William Brown, Jr. MD, JD serves as medical director for all the Chicago, Illinois and Saint Joseph, Michigan branches of ADVANCED SKIN AND MOHS SURGERY CENTER.
Dr. Brown is Board Certified by the American Board of Dermatology, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, is a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology, the sole professional organization of physicians who have extensive training and experience in Mohs Micrographic Surgery. Dr. Brown also serves as the Section Chief of Dermatology for AMITA – Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.
In addition, Dr. Brown is a member of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, the Michigan Medical Society, the Illinois State Medical Society, having served on the Board of Trustees and as Vice President; and a member of the Chicago Medical Society, having served as Secretary and President as well as on the Board of Trustees. In addition, Dr. Brown has served on numerous committees and task-forces for these organizations.
