CLINIC COORDINATOR: The clinic coordinator performs clinic activities including scheduling, message taking, greeting and acknowledging patients throughout the check-in and check-out process, and managing referral and insurance authorizations.

PRINICIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Greets and acknowledges patients at the front desk, checks patients in and out of the clinic and performs practice designated activities to support new patients.
  • Collects time of service payments, post payments into our Cerner system and reconciles end of the day receipts.
  • Coordinates information flow in and out of the clinic. Addresses patient s calls efficiently and courteously with taking accurate, clear and concise messages that provide sufficient information for the clinical staff and/ or receiving party to effectively handle the issue / request.
  • Schedules, cancels and reschedules patient’s appointments, procedures and surgeries.
  • Obtains referrals and insurance authorizations.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 year College Degree or Higher

MEDICAL ASSISTANT: The Medical assistant in Dermatology is responsible for assisting physicians with the evaluation management and treatment of patients in the ambulatory care setting. The medical assistant assumes responsibility for maintaining patient flow, the upkeep of exam and treatment rooms, and performing basic skills such as vital signs and patient care.

PRINICIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Takes vital signs from patients, verifies medications list and allergies from patients
  • Preps patients for procedure i.e. biopsies, excisions and Mohs surgery and repair
  • Putting in patient’s prescriptions or refills.
  • Charting patients examinations’
  • Returning patients phone calls in a timely manner and documenting in patients EMR

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2 year College Degree or Higher
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification
  • Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant Program
  • Current CPR Certification

SURGICAL ASSISTANT: The Surgical assistant provides aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure and other intraoperative technical functions that help the surgeon carry out a safe surgery with optimal results for the patient. In addition to intraoperative duties, the surgical assistant also performs preoperative and postoperative duties to better facilitate proper patient care. The surgical assistant to the surgeon during the surgery does so under the direction and supervision of the surgeon.

PRINICIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Determines specific equipment needed per procedure.
  • Review all proper paperwork to confirm procedure and special needs for the patients.
  • Confirms procedure with surgeon.
  • Drapes the patient within the surgeons guidelines
  • Selects and applies wound dressing.
  • Provides the patient with appropriate wound care education and instructions.  
  • Provides patient with written wound care instructions / handout and obtains patient signature on copy of wound care instruction sheet.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2 year College Degree or Higher
  • Current Surgical Assistant Certification
  • Graduate of a Accredited Surgical Assistant Program
  • Current CPR Certification

HISTOTECHNOLOGIST: Receives and accurately processes surgical or diagnostic tissue specimens This task requires fine technical skill to produce quality tissue slides for microscopic diagnostic interpretation. Duties are repetitive in nature but require precise attention to detail. Performance of staining and special staining, additional responsibilities include performing gross examination of specimens when received.

PRINICIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Listed but not limited to

  • Receive tissue specimens and enter into log book, etc.
  • Process tissue for sectioning.
  • Section tissue; stain slides, cover slips and labels slides.
  • Reviews ALL slides and documentation before taking anything to the physician.
  • Log in and prepare all incoming consultation slides for review.
  • File all slides and blocks.
  • Maintain order in the laboratory and compliance to safety regulations.
  • Keep all QC/QA charts.
  • Review and update regulated manuals annually.
  • Acts as back-up for nurses.
  • Order laboratory supplies and appropriately stores supplies.
  • Appropriately dispose of biohazardous waste.
  • Oversees all laboratory functions.
  • Maintains current policies and procedures for all laboratory functions.
  • Implements laboratory safety.
  • Updates Laboratory Management Manual yearly or as policies and procedures change.
  • Accepts responsibility for maintenance and storage of all laboratory records and patient slides, according to law.
  • Co-monitor for OSHA compliance.
  • Chemical Hygiene Officer

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • High School diploma or GED
    • AA OR BS/BA in science preferred but no required

PATHOLOGY TRANSCRIBER (Transcriptionist): Transcribes “grossing description” that is provided from the permanent laboratory, the micro description and pathologist’s interpretation or reading of the slides.

PRINICIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Transcribes grossing information
  • Transcribes interpretation of the read slides by pathologist
  • Maintains log of all pathology
  • Makes sure that all transcribe interpretations are typed in a timely manner, correctly and accurately
  • Faxes all pathology reports to appropriate office where patient was seen and documents sending reports and obtaining fax confirmation.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2 year College Degree or Higher

OFFICE MANAGER: Responsible for the operations and administration side of the medical office. Ensure that the office is running smoothly and efficiently by supervising office staff.

PRINICIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Promoting excellent customer service.
  • Develop implements and maintains office policies and procedures.
  • Oversees the day-to day operations of the clinic, as it relates to patients, staff and office facility.

  • Implements office policies and procedures.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • AA or BA in Management preferred but not required.

BILLING AGENT: Responsible for collecting, posting and managing account payments. Responsible for submitting claims and following up with insurance companies.

PRINICIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Prepares and submits claims to various insurance companies.
  • Answers questions from patients, clerical staff and insurance companies.
  • Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints.
  • Evaluates patients’ financial status and establishes budget payment plans. Follows and reposts status of delinquent accounts.
  • Processes payments from patients and insurance companies.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2 year College Degree or Higher
  • Graduate of a Accredited Medical Billing and Coding Program
