- +Mohs Surgery
The most advanced treatment for skin cancer, Mohs Micrographic Surgery (MMS) is a treatment option where a specially trained surgeon excises and examines thin layers of fresh tissue immediately, reducing treatment time, and allowing immediate reconstruction of the wound.
The surgeon traces the skin cancer down to its roots, ensuring complete removal. The removed tissue is then microscopically examined for evidence of remaining cancer cells. If any of the tissue sections examined contain cancer cells, the Mohs surgeon will return to the specific area to remove another thin layer. This process is repeated until the surgeon is certain all cancer has been removed. The Mohs procedure allows the doctor to see beyond the visible disease, and precisely identify and remove the entire tumor, leaving healthy tissues intact and unharmed.
To remove cancerous skin, your Dermatology physician will begin by outlining the area with a skin-marking pen. A margin of normal appearing skin will be included because there is no way to determine with the naked eye how far the cancer cells have spread. The excision outline is drawn in the shape of a football so that the skin can be sewn back together to lay flat.
- +Skin Cancer Detection
Skin Cancer Detection
Skin cancer is the world’s most common cancer. It will strike one in five people by the time they turn seventy years old. 99% of cases are curable if they are caught early. Unlike internal cancers, skin cancer you can see. This is why annual skin checks with a dermatologist are of utmost importance, sooner if you detect any changes in your skin.

- +Shave Biopsies
This is a widely used procedure in Dermatology. The technique is used to obtain tissue for examination under a microscope to look for abnormal cells. Shave biopsies are also commonly used for superficial skin lesions that the patient might want removed for cosmetic reasons.
- +Punch Biopsies
A punch biopsy is performed when a full thickness specimen is needed for examination under the microscope. Patients have a few stitches that will need to be removed in 10-14 days.
This is a procedure that uses liquid nitrogen to destroy tissue. It can be used for benign lesions, such as warts, or precancerous lesions such as actinic keratoses.
- +Pediatric Dermatology
Certain conditions are more common in childhood. Providers take the extra time to talk to the pediatric patient and help both the child and parent understand the full scope of the skin issues treated during the appointment.
Our Dermatologists can analyze your skin and prescribe an acne regimen just for you. Most of the prescriptions are covered under your insurance plan. Acne medications work by reducing oil production, speeding up skin cell turnover and reducing inflammation.
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition. It causes redness, flushing and small red bumps on the face. It can also affect the eyes and cause an enlarged nose.
Warts are a growth on the skin caused by the humanpapilloma virus, or HPV. There are many types of warts which include the common wart which usually appear on the fingers, plantar warts on the feet, genital warts and flat warts that commonly appear on areas that the patient might shave. Warts can be treated by chemical means, cryotherapy and prescription topicals.
- +Fungal infections of Hair, Skin & Nails
Fungal infections of Hair, Skin & Nails
Fungus and yeast can infect the skin, nails, and hair. Fungal infections may be scaled patches on the skin, or scaling between the toes or in the groin. Some common terms for these infections include “ringworm” , “jock itch”, or “athletes foot.” Fungally infected nails are referred to as onychomychosis.
Eczema is a condition in which one develops inflamed itchy patches most often on the extremities, trunk or face. Atopic dermatitis can be associated with asthma and allergies.
- +Contact Dermatitis
Contact dermatitis is an allergic or irritant reaction to a substance that has touched the skin. This can be a cream, lotion, cosmetic, plant (often poison ivy or referred to as rhus dermatitis) metal or dye. A provider will work to determine the cause and then decide on the best treatment option.
Psoriasis is a skin condition consisting of scaly, inflamed patches of skin. It can affect the entire body including scalp, groin and nails. It can also cause arthritis, referred to as psoriatic arthritis. Treatments include topical agents, but for severe psoriasis, biologic agents can be used.
Unusual rashes are referred to as dermatitis. They can look like burns, blistering conditions, conditions over joints or around the eyes. Associated with internal problems. Workups may include blood tests or skin biopsies.

- +Botox and Dysport
Botox and Dysport
A full life brings its share of surprises, smiles and frowns. All those expressions along with other factors: aging, heredity, gravity and sun damage, can cause frown lines, horizontal forehead lines, crow’s feet and neckbands. If these are exaggerated or made worse by making that expression, muscle activity is partly responsible for these lines. Botox Cosmetic and Dysport, are prescription medications that are injected into muscles of expression to temporarily reduce this muscle activity for noticeable smoothing of these lines. They work by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles.
Some women may wish to add subtle volume to their lips or may want to soften the appearance of their vertical lip lines. Unwanted lines such as these are often caused by factors such as sun exposure or repeated muscle movement. Juvederm Volbella XC is the first and FDA filler approved to increase lip fullness and correct perioral lines for up to 1 year. Small injections are made in the areas of concern. Juvederm Volbella XC contains a numbing agent which makes the treatments more tolerable. A topical anesthetic is also applied to each site prior to injection to minimize discomfort. Results are immediate but the patient should expect mild swelling, redness, and possible bruising at the injection sites.
Over time your skin loses volume and the lines around the adorable pout or quirky grin don’t go away. That’s when it may be time for Restylane Refyne and Restylane Defyne. They are formulated to act like your body’s own naturally occurring hyaluronic acid, restoring volume to your skin. Using unique Xpress HA Technology™, each product is designed to give you just the right amount of lift, along with the flexibility to show a range of facial expressions without looking unnatural. Your natural looking results can last up to 12 months.
Radiesse is a viable option for those seeking help in smoothing their wrinkles. Long-lasting and highly satisfying to patients. It is the first FDA-approved dermal filler for both face and hands. Collagen is the main structural protein in our skin–it’s what helps it feel and look tight, taught, and youthful. As we age, the production of collagen slows down, causing skin to sag. Radiesse helps to fight against the aging process.
One of the most important factors in choosing a filler treatment is understanding how it works. Over time, our skin begins to lose naturally occurring components such as collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, leaving skin more prone to develop etched-in lines and wrinkles. Belotero product line includes fillers of different consistencies for use on both fine lines and severe folds.
Traditional collagen creams purport to deliver collagen that is absorbed by the skin. However, collagen molecules are too large to penetrate the dermis. So, in actuality, most of these treatments include vitamins and hold moisture, making them suitable moisturizers that can briefly improve skin’s appearance. Sculptra is a filler that stimulates your body to produce its own collagen.
Renuva is an off the shelf injectable fat graft that is used for the correction of minor aesthetic irregularities, replacing volume loss in your hands, cheeks or temples, enhancing skin tone and smoothing dimples, dents, and divots. The injection can be completed in as little as 10 minutes right in the doctor’s office. Renuva eliminates the need for liposuction and does not require general anesthesia.
Kybella is an individually tailored injectable treatment for adults with moderate to severe submental fat (double chin). The number of treatments is tailored to the amount of submental fat and aesthetic goals of each patient.
- +Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
is an autologous concentrated preparation of platelets and the associated growth factors in a small volume of plasma. Platelets are a natural source of a number of growth factors in their natural and biologically-determined ratios. PRP therapy for hair loss is an in office procedure in which blood is drawn from the patient, processed through the centrifuge and injected directly into the scalp. PRP is beneficial to both men and women to help stimulate inactive hair follicles.

This low dose of radiation safely destroys non-melanoma skin cancer cells with minimal damage to healthy surrounding tissue. - +Keloid/Scar Treatment
Approximately 18 million people are affected by these painful, unsightly, thick scars that typically appear at the site of a previous injury or surgical procedure, although they may also occur spontaneously. The incidence is highest in those whose ethnicity makes them genetically prone to keloids—particularly African Americans, Latinos and Asians.
Keloids are chronic, non-malignant tumors that form within the skin as result of the overproduction of collagen. Acne scarring, ear piercing, tattoos and other skin injuries can trigger their formation. Traditionally, Keloids and Hypertrophic Scars are treated with a variety of modalities, including, but not limited to topical steroid creams, surgery, and steroid injections. While, these methods provide positive results, however, outcomes are highly variable and the incidence of recurrence is high.
